Origin & Formation
Rubies form when chromium-bearing fluids invade aluminum-rich metamorphic rock such as marble. The scarce marriage of chromium and corundum is why fine red rubies are rarer than diamond.
Known origins: Myanmar (Mogok), Mozambique, Thailand, Sri Lanka
